Located in southeastern Maui, the 21MW Auwahi Wind Farm will utilize eight Siemens wind turbines to generate enough renewable power for approximately 10,000 average Maui homes. Initial construction activities are underway and full mobilization at the site is slated to begin by the end of the second quarter 2012. The project is expected to be in commercial operation by year-end 2012. The balance of plant contract has been awarded to RMT WindConnect.
Sempra US Gas & Power will continue leading the development of Auwahi Wind and operate the project once construction is complete.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to further expand our highly successful strategic partnership with BP Wind Energy while helping Hawaii advance one step closer to its renewable energy goals," said Jim Sahagian, vice president of renewables for Sempra US Gas & Power.

China Sunergy delivers 5MW modules to Yerussalimovo Solar Park
The solar plant is located near Yerussalimovo Village in southern Bulgaria. Yerussalimovo solar plant is the seventh of a series of PV projects that Helios Power plan to develop in the next couple of years.
Helios Power has been a strategic partner for China Sunergy in Bulgarian market since 2010. To date in 2012, China Sunergy has shipped a total of 22.32MW to Bulgaria, on top of 18MW sold last year, which accounted for above 30 percent of the Bulgarian market in 2011.
Bulgaria's solar market has gained pace after the country introduced a preferential feed-in-tariff in December 2006 and entered the European Union in January 2007. The first renewable energy projects were hydro-electric and wind, followed by solar, for which the country's southern part with relatively warmer climate is well-suited...

Honeywell introduces PowerShield 3W to protect solar panels
PowerShield 3W is a backsheet for photovoltaic panels that helps protect the electrical circuits in solar panel modules, preventing moisture from entering the module and keeping electrical charges within the module. The features reportedly help the module retain maximum power output while maintaining electrical safety.
PowerShield 3W is a laminate that is bound by a proprietary adhesive specifically designed for photovoltaic applications. The adhesive helps make the laminate the most durable backsheet available from Honeywell to date.
"We are committed to developing solutions that increase the performance and overall lifetime of solar panels. Honeywell's latest innovative backsheet, PowerShield 3W, provides solar panel manufacturers with cost-effective and reliable protection for their modules," said Jerry Buchanan, global business manager for Honeywell's photovoltaic backing systems business. "This backsheet has been proven to perform in some of the most rigorous conditions."
