Located on the Gulf of Suez, and covering 625 sqkm, Gabel El-Zayt will be the largest onshore wind farm in Egypt with a planned capacity of 3GW by 2020. The project is financed by the German Bank for Reconstruction (KfW).
The scope of the turnkey project includes civil works, as well as eleven 220 kV GIS Bays, 43 Medium Voltage (MV) GIS Switchgear, two 125 MVA power transformers, automation and telecommunication systems. All Alstom products are manufactured in France and Turkey. The substation is due to be commissioned at the end of 2013....
